10 Ways to Make Your Home More Salable

1.     Get rid of the clutter.  Throw out  or pack up stacks of newpapers and magazines.  Pack up most of your small decorative items.  Keep only clothes of the season in your closet, they look much larger empty.

2.     Keep everything extra clean. Clean the stove and refrigerator, especially if they will pass with the sale.  A clean house convinces buyers that the home has been taken care of.

3.     Wash your windows and brush your screens this allows more natural sunlight in.

4.     Get rid of smells, especially smoke.  Clean carpeting and open windows to eliminate odors.

5.     Make minor repairs such as doors that do not shut properly, replace the caulking around the tub, stop dripping faucets.  I know this sounds crazy, but this is what the buyers see first.  They go in looking for issues.

6.     Replace burnt out light bulbs, don't forget to look in the basement and garage.

7.    Please cut the grass, rake the leaves, and trim the bushes, CURB APPEAL, 1st impressions last.  Maybe even put potted flowers in the entry.

8.     If you have a very old tar driveway, reapply sealant.  This looks great

9.     Clean your gutters, when gutters are full of debris they do not dry out and moisture will collect.

10.    Finally, you might want to just start packing up your basement, garage, and anything else you like.  The more crisp and ready to move in the home looks,  the better!
